The Thursday Europa League round 2 Qualifier play is on Benfica -1.5 goals at 1 eastern. Benfica finished 3rd overall in the Primeira LIGA The Top league in Portugal. Benfica made it to the knockout stage in the Champions League last year before bowing out to Real Madrid, this time around its the Europa and they take on Swiss Side St. Gallen and they won their domestic league cup but have looked inept in 2 friendlies this summer losing 6-3 and 3-0, the last of which was to Norwich City. There is a large gulf in talent between the two teams and even with the Home field we will back Benfica to secure the multiple goal win. GL Rob V-

With all due respect to these offenses, this O/U line is generously high. The Elks are off a 19-17 win. They've held three of their last four opponents to less than 20 points. The Riders allowed just seven points in their last game, after conceding 22 in their previous game. Last season's meetings both had O/U lines of 54.5. The game at Edmonton finished with 52 while the game here at Saskatchewan finished with only 39. Expect Thursday's final score to also stay below the large total. *good at 56 and up

Battle by the Archway: Diamondbacks at Cardinals
The Diamondbacks and Cardinals open up a weekend series in St. Louis on Thursday. Both pitchers come in hot, with Diamondbacks’ righty Brandon Pfaadt 3-0 in July with a 2.30 ERA and Cardinals’ righty Michael McGreevy owning a 1.93 ERA in July. Combined, the two teams have won 7 of the last 10 starts of the two pitchers. Given the recent success of both starters, I think this game goes under the total.
Take the under.

Take #955 Rays vs Blue Jays Over
Ian Seymour and Shane Bieber both enter this matchup struggling to find consistency on the mound. Seymour has surrendered nine earned runs over his last 14 innings, while Bieber has been hit even harder, allowing 11 earned runs across his last 14 frames. Neither pitcher is in top form, creating a favorable setup for offense.
History also supports a higher-scoring game, as these teams have combined to go 7-3 to the over in their last 10 head-to-head meetings. With both starters trending in the wrong direction and the potential for runs from both lineups, we expect this game to play over the total.

UAB Over 3.5 Regular Season Wins
With all due respect to Trent Dilfer, a change was desperately needed in Birmingham after a disastrous 9–21 tenure. Alex Mortensen was given the full-time nod after leading the final six games as the interim head coach, and we're looking for improvement from the Blazers in 2026. After spending nine years under Nick Saban at Alabama, Mortensen was held in high regard among a lot of coaching circles. In his first game with the headset after Dilfer's dismissal last year, Mortensen led the Blazers to a nationally-televised upset over then-No. 22 Memphis. Oddsmakers are only asking UAB to match last year's win total of four, and we believe that is a goal the Blazers can reach. Redshirt junior Ryder Burton is expected to get the nod at quarterback, and just like Mortensen, he made his debut against Memphis in the middle of last season. Burton went 20-of-27 for 251 yards and three touchdowns in his first start, showing that he was ready to lead the offense. Burton is already married, which is just one example of a very experienced roster that Mortensen is working with this year. According to RotoWire, UAB has the sixth-oldest roster in the country with an average age of 20.8 years old. UAB opens the season at Illinois, but then has extra time to prepare for win-able non-conference games against Louisiana and UL-Monroe. UAB plays FCS-level Samford after Navy, so that gives the Blazers a comfortable landing spot after a physical game against the Midshipmen. UAB will enjoy a bye at the end of October before finishing with a not-so-daunting closing stretch that includes Charlotte, Temple and a re-loading North Texas squad. UAB's program was in complete disarray last year, but the Blazers still won four games. We believe they can, at the least, match that total in 2026.
