Quarterfinal Bracket Predictions — All 4 Matches

The quarterfinals run July 9 through July 11. Here are our predictions for all four matches:

  • France vs Morocco — Thu Jul 9, 4:00 PM ET, Gillette Stadium, Foxborough. France are 11-0 as the favorite in World Cup knockout matches across their entire historical dataset — a 100 percent regulation win rate. Morocco have been extraordinary — demolishing Canada 3-0, eliminating the Netherlands on penalties — but their identity is built on defensive discipline and they have never produced a high-scoring KO match in their history. France control these games. Prediction: France to advance. Expected: France win 1-0 or 2-0 in regulation. Under 1.5 is the strongest wager on this match.
  • Spain vs Belgium — Fri Jul 10, 3:00 PM ET, SoFi Stadium, Inglewood. The most analytically interesting quarterfinal on the board. Spain carry the most extreme low-scoring knockout profile in the field — Under 1.5 at +115.9% ROI across 9 KO matches. But Belgium's 2026 KO profile has completely broken the expected mold: Over 3.5 in both their knockout matches, BTTS Yes in both, four goals against the USA. The clash between Spain's historic grinding template and Belgium's hot 2026 form is the central puzzle of this quarterfinal. We lean toward Spain's historical depth over Belgium's hot streak. Prediction: Spain to advance. Live upset: Belgium. Live wager: Under 2.5.
  • Norway vs England — Sat Jul 11, 5:00 PM ET, Hard Rock Stadium, Miami. The most high-scoring quarterfinal. Norway have produced BTTS Yes in both KO matches with Haaland leading the tournament in goals. England's 2H scoring record is among the strongest in the field — they score in the second half. Both sides trend toward goals at both ends. England's squad depth and tournament experience give them the advancement edge but this will not be decided quietly. Prediction: England to advance. Best wager: BTTS Yes, Over 2.5. Norway are the live upset if Haaland is at full sharpness.
  • Argentina vs Switzerland — Sat Jul 11, 9:00 PM ET, Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City. The most structurally fascinating matchup of the quarterfinals. Argentina's regulation draw tendency — 8 of 15 historical KO matches ending level — collides with Switzerland's 2026 KO profile: BTTS No in both matches, Under 2.5 in both. The data predicts a very specific outcome: Switzerland hold Argentina to one goal or fewer in regulation, the game draws after 90 minutes, and Argentina advance on penalties. Prediction: Argentina via penalties. Best wager: Under 1.5 regulation. Draw regulation. BTTS No.

Semifinal Bracket Predictions — Projected 2 Ties

  • France vs Spain — projected semifinal. Two sides with the most extreme low-scoring knockout profiles in the field. France 11-0 as KO favorite. Spain's Under 1.5 template. A tight, grinding match settled by one goal or penalties. Our prediction: France, on their regulation-win historical edge as the favorite.
  • England vs Argentina — projected semifinal. England scoring freely but defensively exposed. Argentina drawing everything out and winning when it matters. Messi vs Kane. Our prediction: Argentina to reach the final — their tournament identity is built for exactly the tense semifinal environment England creates.

Final Prediction: France vs Argentina — France to Win the 2026 World Cup

Our final prediction has not changed through 24 knockout matches. France over Argentina at MetLife Stadium on July 19. France are 11-0 as the knockout stage favorite — they have not failed to win a regulation knockout match in their entire recorded history at the World Cup. Argentina reach the final through Messi's brilliance and a tournament identity built around drawing and surviving — the opposite of France's clinical knockout efficiency. When those two templates meet in the final, France's active wins on the board beat Argentina's draws and late heroics. France are world champions.

The Tournament Story So Far: What 24 Knockout Matches Have Shown

Twenty-four matches into the knockout stage, this 2026 World Cup has produced a clear identity: favorites win in regulation far more often than the group stage suggested, under-scoring is the dominant pattern, and the dog-side markets that worked in the group stage have been catastrophically wrong across the knockout rounds. The teams that have advanced furthest share the same identity: defensively organized, clinical in front of goal, and comfortable in tight matches. Norway are the outlier — high-scoring, aggressive, and now in a quarterfinal their tournament form says they can win.

World Cup Bracket Predictions FAQ

How has the bracket performed through 24 knockout matches?

Nineteen of 24 correct — a 79 percent hit rate. The five misses were Paraguay over Germany, Algeria failing to upset Switzerland, Croatia failing to upset Portugal, Australia failing to upset Egypt, and Switzerland over Colombia. All five were upset predictions that did not land. The bracket is strongest on the favorite calls — 13 of 13 correct when we predicted the favorite without flagging upset potential.

Why is Argentina vs Switzerland the most interesting quarterfinal?

Because Argentina's knockout draw tendency — 8 of 15 historical KO matches ending level in regulation — collides directly with Switzerland's current tournament form: BTTS No and Under 2.5 in both their knockout wins. The structural prediction is a tight scoreline where Switzerland hold Argentina to one goal or fewer, the game draws in regulation, and Argentina advance on penalties. It is the most analytically clear prediction of the quarterfinals.

Is Norway still a realistic tournament winner?

Yes. They beat Brazil in 90 minutes. Haaland leads the tournament in goals. The quarterfinal against England is a match Norway can win — England's defensive vulnerabilities were exposed by Mexico and Haaland is the best attacker in the tournament. If Norway beat England, a semifinal against France or Spain is the next obstacle. Our bracket has England advancing, but Norway winning the quarterfinal would be consistent with the best story this tournament has produced.

When does the bracket update for the semifinals?

Once the quarterfinals are complete on July 11, we lock in the four semifinalists and re-project the semifinals and final. The semifinal analysis goes up before July 14. Check back after July 11 for the updated bracket with all quarterfinal results confirmed.
