Vegas Golden Knights vs Minnesota Wild Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Monday October 12 2026

Vegas heads to Saint Paul on Monday night with a 5-1-0 record and four consecutive victories, but Minnesota has been one of the league's stingiest early teams. The Wild are 3-1-1 after a 4-1 victory in Florida, and the Golden Knights are coming off a 2-1 overtime win against Los Angeles. The matchup at Grand Casino Arena is priced almost evenly, with Vegas quoted near -102 and Minnesota around -110 in available morning markets. That fits a contest with strong special teams and dangerous scorers.
Vegas brings the more explosive overall scoring rate, averaging 3.67 goals through six games. Minnesota has allowed only 1.80 goals per game through five, a very small but meaningful indication of how the Wild have started. Both teams had Sunday off after Saturday games, so there is no obvious rest disadvantage. The decisive question is whether Minnesota can keep Vegas's talented forwards from turning puck movement through the neutral zone into odd-man opportunities.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Analysis

Jack Eichel has nine points through six games and remains the focal point of the Golden Knights' attack. He can carry possession into the offensive zone, create a shot for himself or find a teammate moving into the slot. Mark Stone's passing and puck protection make the top unit more difficult to contain, while Ivan Barbashev supplies the forechecking support needed to extend possessions. Mitch Marner adds another elite playmaker elsewhere in the lineup, with Tomas Hertl and William Karlsson giving Vegas strong options through the middle.
Marner supplied the overtime winner against the Kings on Saturday, converting during a power play to extend Vegas's winning streak. Trevor Connelly contributed a goal and an assist, while Stone recorded two assists. Carter Hart stopped 26 shots in the win. Vegas's ability to get contributions outside its top line is one reason the Knights have stayed productive even when a game becomes tight and low scoring, as it did against Los Angeles.
The power play has converted at 30.4 percent early in the season. That is unlikely to remain its exact season-long pace, but the players driving it have the puck skills to punish aggressive penalty killing. Vegas also has an experienced defensive core with Shea Theodore, Noah Hanifin, Brayden McNabb and Rasmus Andersson. Hart and Adin Hill give the coaching staff credible options in goal, although Monday's starting assignment should not be inferred solely from Hart playing Saturday.

Minnesota Wild Betting Analysis

Minnesota's last outing was built around Kirill Kaprizov. He scored three times in a 4-1 victory over the Panthers, including a power-play goal and an empty-netter, and added an assist. Matt Boldy contributed a goal and an assist, while Quinn Hughes helped drive the play from the back end. The Wild did not need to trade chances recklessly to produce that result. They defended the middle and waited for their most skilled forwards to make the difference when the opportunities arrived.
Jesper Wallstedt stopped 29 of 30 Florida shots and has been outstanding early, recording a 1.78 goals-against average and .936 save percentage through his first five games. His form has been particularly valuable because Filip Gustavsson is sidelined by a lower-body injury. Wallstedt is a logical projected starter, not a confirmed one until the team announces the assignment. Minnesota's defensive structure has helped reduce the burden on its goalie, and the club has killed 94.1 percent of opposing power plays through its first five contests.
The Wild's injury situation is worth monitoring beyond the crease. Brock Faber and Nick Foligno remain unavailable, while Marcus Foligno and Zach Bogosian are listed day-to-day. Hughes is therefore especially important when Minnesota needs to exit the zone cleanly and avoid repeated shifts under pressure. Joel Eriksson Ek gives the forward group a reliable defensive center presence, with Kaprizov and Boldy capable of converting limited chances into goals against even the best opponents.

Golden Knights vs Wild Odds and Line Movement

The morning market presents a nearly even contest. Vegas had been quoted around -108 in one snapshot and -102 in another, while Minnesota appeared between -103 and -110 depending on the sportsbook. Since those observations come from different operators, they should not be mistaken for a uniform line move. Instead, they demonstrate that neither side has commanded a clear market premium. The total has generally been posted near 5.5 to six goals, consistent with Minnesota's defensive results and Vegas's ability to score through multiple lines.
Special teams could be the clearest separator. Minnesota's power play has converted at 37.5 percent, while Vegas is above 30 percent. Both numbers come from small samples, but the Wild's exceptional penalty-killing start offers an important counter to Eichel, Marner and the Vegas man advantage. Minnesota will still need to stay disciplined, since one extended Vegas power-play sequence could undo 40 minutes of sound five-on-five defending.

Best Bet and Prediction

Best Bet: Minnesota Wild moneyline at -110 or better. The home price is modest enough to justify a lean toward Minnesota's goaltending and defensive structure, rather than asking the Wild to cover a puck line against a dangerous Vegas offense. Kaprizov and Boldy can produce the decisive chances, and the penalty kill gives Minnesota a chance to neutralize one of Vegas's biggest strengths. This remains a close matchup, so the wager loses appeal if the price climbs significantly.
Prediction: Minnesota Wild 3, Vegas Golden Knights 2. The Wild withstand long Vegas possessions, get another disciplined performance in goal and convert one more of their high-danger opportunities.
