Calgary hopes offense improves

The Flames are having a season to forget, with their offense letting them down and scoring only 2.17 goals per game. Nazem Kadri and Morgan Frost have scored five goals and 11 assists, but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three skaters have three goals or more, and opponents can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled, but the defense is also a mess, allowing 3.50 goals per game. Kevin Bahl and Rasmus Andersson have combined for 1.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Dustin Wolf has struggled with a .887 save percentage and a 3.44 goals-against average on 291 shots with -2.5 goals saved above average.

Flyers are led by a great defense

The Flyers are having a great season despite their offense struggling and scoring 2.80 goals per game. Trevor Zegras and Noah Cates have scored seven goals and 12 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only two skaters have four goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled, but the defense has been incredible, allowing only 2.40 goals per game. Travis Sanheim and Cam York have combined for 1.7 defensive point shares, while Nick Seeler and Jamie Drysdale have combined for 1.2 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. With the Flyers playing the second game of a back-to-back, the hope is that Aleksei Kolosov steps up as he is expected to make his season debut.

Flames vs Flyers Pick

Money Line Pick For Flames vs Flyers

  • Flyers (-145) (4 units)

The Flames look to pull off the upset, but the Flyers look to step up on their home ice and take over this game. The Flyers should find the back of the net with ease against the Flames, who allow 3.50 goals per game, with Trevor Zegras, Noah Cates, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Flyers should limit the Flames' offense with Travis Sanheim, Cam York, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Aleksei Kolosov to make plenty of big saves. The Flyers should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Flyers' money line as home Favorites.

Over/Under Pick For Flames vs Flyers

  • Under 5.5 (5 Units)

Both teams have struggled on offense, and this game looks to be a low-scoring one from the first period. The Flames should limit a Flyers offense that averages only 2.80 goals per game, with Kevin Bahl, Rasmus Andersson, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Dustin Wolf to make plenty of big saves. The Flyers, who allow only 2.40 goals per game, should eliminate and potentially shut out the Flames, who average only 2.17 goals per game, with Travis Sanheim, Nick Seeler, Cam York, and the rest of the defensive unit forcing turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone while goaltender Aleksei Kolosov blanks the shots on the net. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game with both defenses stepping up.

Take the Under on 5.5 goals.
