Detroit Rebounds with Dominating Win
The Detroit Lions are seeking a second straight win. The Lions have one of the toughest schedules in the entire NFL, especially the road portion. Detroit was out of sync in the season opener in Green Bay. They were charged with a 27-13 loss in a game that had the Lions as 1.5-point dogs. Next, Detroit answered with a dominating 52-21 home win against the Bears to cover the 6.5-point spread. The Lions have nearly an identical roster to last season, but have new offensive and defensive coordinators.
Jared Goff was productive in the defeat against Green Bay and was magnificent against the Bears, recording 334 passing yards and five touchdowns. The 30-year-old QB already has 559 passing yards and a 6:1 TD to INT ratio. Detroit has one of the best running back duos in the NFL in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Montgomery is more of a power back, and Gibbs has the speed. Gibbs wasn’t at his best in the opener, and last week, he exposed the Bears. Gibbs has 113 rushing yards in two games.

The receiving core is stacked. Amon Ra St. Brown is one of the best at gaining yards after the catch. The 25-year-old racked up 115 yards against the Bears and has 160 yards in two games. Jameson Williams has managed 131 yards. The Detroit offense has averaged 378 yards in two games.
The Lions' defense is not quite as strong as their offense, but they do have plenty of stars who can make big plays. As mentioned, they have a new defensive coordinator. The defense only conceded 266 total yards in the defeat in Green Bay and squandered 339 total yards against Chicago. Aiden Hutchinson has one sack. The defense has some injuries to keep in mind. Linebacker Jack Campbell has a foot injury and is expected to play. He leads the squad in tackles. DE Marcus Davenport is questionable. Kerby Joseph is dealing with a knee injury and practiced on Friday. The Lions' pass defense is ranked 11th, while the rush defense is 15th
Detroit is averaging 32.5 points after two games, ranking them fifth. The Lions have conceded an average of 24 points, placing them 20th.
Baltimore Records First Win of Season
The Baltimore Ravens are targeting their second win of the season. Baltimore had an interesting season opener. They had the daunting task of playing in Buffalo and appeared to be on the way to a massive road win. They squandered a 40-25 lead in a 41-40 defeat. They were one-point favourites. The Ravens did as expected and rebounded with a dominating 41-17 home win against the Browns last week to cover the 13-point spread.
Lamar Jackson has been outstanding after two games. The 28-year-old star recorded 209 passing yards and added 70 rushing yards against the Bills. He was dominant against the Browns, tossing four touchdowns. Jackson has posted 434 passing yards with a 6:0 TD to INT ratio on the season.
Derrick Henry was a beast against the Bills, and he only managed 23 yards on the ground last week. The veteran RB has 192 rushing yards in two games. Zay Flowers has been targeted 20 times in two games. The 25-year-old WR brought in 75 yards last week and has amassed 218 receiving yards. DeAndre Hopkins has been dangerous, netting 199 receiving yards. The Baltimore offense has posted an average of 337 total yards per game after 242 yards last week.
The Ravens defense struggled against Allen and Buffalo in the opener, giving up just under 500 yards. They were better against a weak offense last week, keeping Cleveland to 323 total yards. Roquan Smith has been dangerous, making a total of 25 tackles. Nnamdi Madubuike has a minor neck injury and is good to go. Last year, the Ravens struggled against the pass and were strong against the run. After two games, the pass defense is rated 30th and the rush defense is 19th.
Baltimore has scored an average of 40.5 points after two games, leading the NFL. The Ravens have squandered an average of 29 points, pegging them 25th.
Detroit Lions vs. Baltimore Ravens Pick
Spread Pick for Lions vs. Ravens
- Detroit Lions +5
The Detroit Lions had some doubters after dropping a road meeting in Green Bay in the opener, but quickly rebounded and found their groove after beating the Bears by a 52-21 score last week. Detroit has new offensive and defensive coordinators, which explains the struggles in the opener. The Ravens are obviously a contender, but their defense can be exposed. They surrendered 497 total yards against the Bills and 323 yards against Cleveland last week.
Furthermore, Detroit has a potent offense even without OC Ben Johnson, as they proved last week. Goff has already posted 559 passing yards and should have another big output. The Ravens' secondary was ranked 25th last season, and so far, it has not been any better, ranking 30th after two games. Also, the Lions' defense has superior numbers compared to the Ravens after two games. They are strong against the run, conceding an average of just 106 rushing yards.
Over/Under Pick for Lions vs. Ravens
- Over 52.5
I expect plenty of scoring. Detroit proved last week that it can have a dangerous offense even without its offensive coordinator from last season. They have a deep threat in Jameson Williams and a YAC master in St. Brown. As mentioned, the Ravens' secondary has not improved, and the rush defense was shaky last week, considering the Cleveland offense was able to average 5.2 yards per carry.
In addition, the potent Baltimore offense is as good as it gets. Defending Jackson is hard enough, but adding Henry makes this offense a daunting task for any defense. The offense posted 432 yards against the Bills. The Lions' pass rush has been ineffective, posting just two sacks, so I expect Johnson to have time in the pocket. The Lions surrendered 27 points against Green Bay. The over is 5-1 in the Ravens' past six September games.
