The Nuggets are 8.5-point spread favorites, and the game total is 232.5 points scored.

Denver has been up and down recently

Denver (37-22 SU, 33-26 ATS, and 37-22 O/U) beat Boston 103-84 on Wednesday, covering the spread as 3.5-point betting favorites. The Nuggets held the Celtics to 35 percent shooting in the game and limited them to 36 second-half points. They also won the rebounding battle 54-48, grabbing 14 offensive rebounds, and outscored the C's 42-28 in the paint.

C Nikola Jokic leads Denver in scoring at 28.8 points per game on 57.7 percent shooting. He also averages 12.5 rebounds and 10.4 assists. A few other Nuggets to watch against the Thunder are G Jamal Murray (25.1 PPG and 7.4 APG), G Tim Hardaway Jr. (13.9 PPG), and F Cameron Johnson (11.7 PPG).

Denver scores 120.5 points per game (1st) and shoots 49.4 percent from the field (2nd), including 39.3 percent from beyond the arc (1st). The Nuggets give up 115.8 points per game (17th) on 46.6 percent shooting (12th), including 34.9 percent from downtown (7th). They are 8th in NET rating, including 1st in offensive rating and 22nd in defensive rating, per Dunks and Threes.

Denver Nuggets Injury Report:

  • Murray (illness) is questionable.

Thunder will welcome back their MVP vs. Nuggets

Oklahoma City (45-15 SU, 35-28-1 ATS, and 33-27 O/U) lost 124-116 to Detroit on Wednesday, covering the 10.5-point spread. The Thunder shot 41 percent from the field, while the Pistons hit 54 percent of their shots. Still, it wasn't a terrible effort from an OKC team playing without five of its top six scorers. The only one who played,Β Isaiah Joe, left at halftime with a bruised hip.

Oklahoma City is led by G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who averages 31.8 points and 6.4 assists per game. He's been sidelined with an abdominal injury, but will return on Friday against Denver. The Thunder score 119.4 points per game (5th) on 48.4 percent shooting (3rd), including 36.5 percent from three-point range (9th). Their opponents score 108.0 points per game (2nd) on 43.7 percent shooting (1st), including 36.8 percent from beyond the arc (25th).

The Thunder were the youngest team in the NBA last season, and management has committed to the future, inking Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren to long-term extensions. For a franchise that once let Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook get away, that was a welcome sight for fans. As long as the team's stars can stay healthy, there's no reason to believe OKC won't be a title contender this season and in the years to come. This season has been filled with highs and lows, though, as the Thunder were off to a red-hot start but have since lost momentum due to injuries.

Oklahoma City Thunder Injury Report:

  • No new injuries to report.

Nuggets vs. Thunder Pick and Preview

Spread Pick for Nuggets vs. Thunder

  • Denver +8.5 (4 Units)

Oklahoma City will get SGA back on Friday, along with Holmgren, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Isaiah Joe. With the MVP returning and three other significant contributors also back, Oklahoma City will be closer to full strength, but the 8.5-point spread is generous. Gilgeous-Alexander won't be near 100 percent and game-ready, and Denver is eager to play well after getting blown out in consecutive games by the Thunder. After a dominant defensive performance on Wednesday against Boston, the Nuggets will bring the defensive intensity again on Friday to at least keep the game close. The Nuggets rank 7th in three-point defense and allow the sixth-fewest rim field goal attempts. While they are a far cry from a good defensive team, with Murray potentially sidelined, they may need to ramp up the defensive effort in consecutive games to have a shot. I believe they'll play well enough on that end of the court against a rusty OKC team that hasn't had any time to gel recently.

Over/Under Pick for Nuggets vs. Thunder

  • Under 232.5 (5 Units)

I don't predict a high-scoring game on Friday in Oklahoma City. The Thunder are still without Jalen Williams (17.5 PPG), and their core unit hasn't been on the court together much recently. These guys aren't likely to play flawlessly and cohesively from start to finish, which will take some pressure off the Nuggets. With Murray (25.1 PPG) dealing with an illness, Denver isn't likely to be at full strength, either. They will be comfortable slowing down the pace to their liking (26th-longest average offensive possession length) on the road, and Oklahoma City (8th-longest average defensive possession length) won't complain much.

There are too many unknowns about these offenses to make a bet on the over at 232.5. Wager on the under!
