A trip to Sacramento is next for the Lakers, who face the Kings at Golden 1 Center on Wednesday at 10:00 pm ET on Spectrum SportsNet. Los Angeles (6-2, 4th Western Conference) defeated Miami 138-117 on Monday, just a day after beating Toronto. The Lakers have won three of four. Sacramento (1-6, 14th Western Conference) ended a four-game skid Monday with a 115-100 victory at Dallas. The Kings are still winless at home. Check out our free NBA picks for Wednesday.
Los Angeles Lakers Looking to Keep Winning
A busy stretch hasn't slowed Los Angeles. The Lakers played Sunday and Monday, coming away with wins over Toronto (131-125) and Miami (138-117). Friday was a different story, as Golden State held them to 95 points in a 112-95 loss. Los Angeles had beaten the Clippers 103-87 two nights earlier. Through eight games, the Lakers have averaged 120.3 points while giving up 115.3. They're making 51.2% of their field goals and 38.9% of their three-point attempts.
Luka Doncic has been the man opponents need to worry about most. He's scoring 37.7 points per game and also leads Los Angeles with 7.3 assists. Walker Kessler is the Lakers' top rebounder at 9.9 per contest. Those two give Los Angeles plenty to work with, especially against a Kings defense that has had trouble limiting opponents. Sacramento will need to prevent Doncic from getting comfortable early.
Injuries: Adou Thiero is out.

Sacramento Kings Trying to Build on a Better Night
Sacramento had plenty to like about Monday's 115-100 win in Dallas. It was the Kings' first victory of the season, and they held an opponent to 100 points after giving up at least 123 in their previous four games. Memphis had beaten them 136-105 on Saturday, and earlier losses to New Orleans (132-120) and San Antonio (130-103) had been difficult to overcome. Sacramento is averaging 109.3 points per game, compared with 124.3 allowed. The Kings shoot 45.2% from the field and 30.2% on three-pointers.
Darius Acuff Jr. has led Sacramento's scoring at 26.3 points per game. Domantas Sabonis leads the Kings in rebounds (15.8) and assists (7.3), taking on a large part of the work around the basket and helping teammates find shots. Sacramento will need both players involved against the Lakers. The Dallas result was a good start, but another win will require the Kings to defend as well as they did Monday.
Injuries: Maxime Raynaud, Keegan Murray and Ben Simmons are out. Dylan Cardwell is questionable.
Key To The Game
Sacramento gave up 130 or more points twice during its recent losing streak. That's a concern with Doncic coming to town after two high-scoring Lakers victories. The Kings need to make Los Angeles work for its shots and avoid falling behind early. Sabonis will also have an important matchup with Kessler around the basket.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Sacramento Kings Game Pick
- Los Angeles Lakers
Monday's win at Dallas gives Sacramento something to build on, but Los Angeles is a harder assignment. The Lakers have won three of four and scored 131 and 138 in their two most recent outings. Doncic has been producing points and assists at a level Sacramento hasn't had an answer for defensively this season. The Kings did hold Dallas to 100, which is encouraging, but that was their first such performance in five games. With Kessler helping on the glass and the Lakers shooting well, I expect Los Angeles to come away with the win.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Sacramento Kings Over/Under Pick
- Over
The Kings finally held an opponent to 100 points Monday, but their earlier results tell a different story. Sacramento had allowed 136 to Memphis, 132 to New Orleans and 130 to San Antonio. Now the Lakers arrive after scoring 138 against Miami and 131 against Toronto. Doncic has been carrying much of the offense, and Sacramento has enough scoring from Acuff to contribute at the other end. The Kings' shooting hasn't been as strong as Los Angeles', but their defensive numbers make another high-scoring game likely.
