Texas Starts Slow
The Texas Rangers are prepping for Sunday Night Baseball, but got off to a slow start in the series as they fell on Friday in a 10-1 blowout. They are still in striking distance in the AL West, as they are just two games behind the division leading Mariners, and are tied with Athletics in second. Prior to this series, the Rangers took two of three games on the road against the Royals.
Wyatt Langford had an RBI single in the first inning on Friday night, but the bullpen allowed ten unanswered runs in the tough loss. Langford batted cleanup and is trying to play catch up with his statistics, as he has only played in 27 games this season due to injuries. He currently has two home runs and six RBIs as the Rangers hope he can continue to get back to his top form. Their top power hitter has been Jake Burger, he leads the team with 11 homers and 41 RBIs. Josh Jung has also been productive, the third baseman has eight home runs and 30 RBIs while batting .308 at the plate.
Nathan Eovaldi will make his 14th start of the season as a 36-year old right hander. He has a 5-7 record to go with a 4.26 ERA. His strikeout to walk ratio is 77 to 20. In his last start, Eovaldi gave up four earned runs in 5.2 innings in a loss to the Royals.

Red Sox Struggle at Home
Fenway Park is one of the most famous baseball parks in the world, but that hasn't mattered much this season, as the Boston Red Sox are just 11-21 at home. Boston has fallen to last place in the AL East, already 12.5 games behind the division leading Rays. On Friday, Boston got a much needed win over Texas, powered by a home run and three RBIs from Wilyer Abreu.
Abreu bats third as their right fielder, and has eight home runs and 32 RBIs to go with his .280 ERA. Their most productive hitter on the season has been Willson Contreras, the first baseman leads the team with 14 home runs and 41 RBIs with a strong .293 batting average. Contreras typically bats fourth in the lineup. Jarren Duran can play any spot in the outfield, he has been batting fifth while adding ten home runs and 34 RBIs.
Connelly Early will make his 14th start of the season as a 24-year old left hander. He started four games for the Sox last season, but this is his first full season as a member of the starting rotation. His record is 5-4 with a 3.30 ERA and a 69-27 strikeout to walk ratio. In his last start, Early gave up two runs in 4.2 innings in a loss to Tampa Bay.
Rangers vs. Red Sox Picks and Predictions
Moneyline pick for Rangers vs. Red Sox
- Red Sox (5 units)
Nathan Eovaldi has a big name, but his game has not backed it up lately on the mound, as the veteran starter has been struggling. Eovaldi has given up four or more earned runs in each of his last four starts, including a game where he gave up 11 hits to the Cardinals. Early is one of Boston's top prospects on the mound, and has found success in his first year in the starting rotation. Boston put up 10 runs on Friday night, and their offense is finally clicking. Expect the Red Sox to win big on Sunday night as they have the advantage on the mound.
Take the Red Sox to win.
Over/Under Pick for Rangers vs. Red Sox
- Over (4 units)
The Boston offense has found a groove lately, and will continue on Sunday night against Eovaldi. As mentioned earlier, Eovaldi has showed signs of aging, as he has given up a combined 13 runs over his last three starts, with only 15 strikeouts during that span. His ERA has climbed up to 4.26, and Boston will look to put up a big number in this prime time game. Early has been better on the mound, but he gave up two runs in a loss last time out, and another four runs in the start before that. This will be a high scoring game.
Take the over.
