New York Wins Six of Seven

The New York Yankees remain one of the hottest teams in baseball, as they have won six of their last seven games. This stretch included a four game sweep of the Orioles, and a 2-1 series win over the Rangers with both sets being played in the Bronx. New York is back on the road now, and hold just a slight half game lead over the surging Rays in the AL East.

The Yankees picked up an easy win in their game against the Rangers on Thursday, winning 9-2 in an afternoon matchup. Cody Bellinger had two hits and three RBIs to help power the team to a win. Bellinger batted third in the lineup, and now has five home runs and 28 RBIs on the year. Aaron Judge batted second as the DH, he is still their best power hitter with 15 home runs and 29 RBIs on the season. Judge is currently leading the league in home runs.

Cam Schlittler will make his 9th start of the season as a 25-year old right hander. He has a strong 5-1 record to go with a 1.52 ERA, which ranks second in the Majors among qualified pitchers. He has 53 strikeouts against just nine walks. In his last start, Schlittler pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run in a win over Baltimore.

Brewers Are Stuck in Fourth

The Milwaukee Brewers have high expectations for this season, but to see any of them come true they will have to climb out of fourth place in the division. The Cubs are red hot, and have a 3.5-game lead over the second place Cardinals, but the other four remaining teams in the NL Central are only separated by three total games.

Milwaukee just split two games in St. Louis, as one of the three got rained out and will be made up at a later date. In their final game of that quick set, the Brewers were able to pull out a 6-2 win, powered by Andrew Vaughn who wit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning. That was Vaughn's first home run of the season, as their most productive hitter has been Brice Turang who has five home runs and 22 RBIs on the season as their second baseman who bats second in the lineup. Jake Bauers is their steady first baseman who has contributed another five home runs and 20 RBIs.

Kyle Harrison will make his 7th start of the year as a 24-year old left hander. He has a 3-1 record to go with his solid 2.12 ERA and 35 to 9 strikeout to walk ratio. In his last outing, Harrison pitched six one-run innings in a win over the Nationals.

Yankees vs. Brewers Picks and Predictions

Run line pick for Yankees vs. Brewers

  •   Yankees -1.5 (5 units)

It is difficult to fade the Yankees right now, as they have won six of their last seven in convincing fashion. The Yankees covered the run line in each of those six wins, so laying the extra run here for a higher payout is the correct play. This becomes even clearer when we see that Schlittler is on the mound, he is quietly turning into one of the best pitchers in baseball. His ERA is 1.52 over a large sample size, and has a powerful 53-9 strikeout to walk ratio. New York cruises to victory here.

Take the Yankees to cover.

Over/Under Pick for Yankees vs. Brewers

  •   Under (4 units)

The Yankees will get a comfortable win here, but that does not necessitate a high scoring game. This game is loaded with pitching talent. The pick for the game was heavily reliant upon the dominant pitching of Schlittler, as he has the second best ERA in all of baseball at the moment, but Harrison has been impressive on the mound as well. Harrison has a 2.12 ERA, and is coming off a one run showing against the Nationals. Pitching dominates the day in the second game of this series.

Take the under.
