Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers NLCS Game 2 Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Monday October 12 2026

By: Alex MacMillan Published 10/12/2026, 11:14 AM ET

Milwaukee took the first game of the National League Championship Series by turning exactly the kind of game it wanted into a 2-1 victory. The Brewers forced Tarik Skubal to work, created their winning run without needing a big inning and then handed the game to a bullpen that covered the final 4 2/3 innings without allowing a run.

Los Angeles now turns to Yoshinobu Yamamoto with the series threatening to get away from the Dodgers early. Milwaukee counters with Logan Henderson, a rookie who has already handled this lineup twice this season. The Dodgers are -131, the Brewers are +121 and the total is 7, giving Milwaukee another opportunity to win a game built around pitching, defense and one or two timely swings.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers NLCS Game 2 Preview

The biggest problem for Los Angeles is not its starting pitching. The Dodgers lost Game 1 despite getting a strong effort from Skubal because the offense again failed to finish innings. Los Angeles is just 2-for-27 with runners in scoring position during the postseason, and both of those hits came from Andy Pages.

That puts enormous pressure on Yamamoto to keep the game close. He is certainly capable of doing it. Yamamoto owns a 2.14 ERA across 11 postseason appearances and held Atlanta to one run over seven innings in his NLDS start. He was also dominant against Milwaukee during the regular season, allowing two earned runs over 13 innings in two victories.

Milwaukee has seen this movie before, though, and Logan Henderson gives the Brewers a legitimate answer. Henderson beat the Dodgers in both of his regular-season starts, allowing only one run across 12 innings with 13 strikeouts and four walks. He also finished the regular season on a strong run, going 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA over his final seven starts.

Henderson does not overpower hitters the way Jacob Misiorowski does, but his fastball plays well and his changeup gives him a weapon against both sides of the plate. That matters against a Los Angeles lineup featuring Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Max Muncy and Kyle Tucker from the left side, while Mookie Betts, Will Smith and Teoscar Hernandez provide the right-handed counter.

Milwaukee's Offense Has to Make Yamamoto Work

Milwaukee is unlikely to beat Yamamoto by waiting for mistakes in the middle of the plate. He commands too many different pitches and has repeatedly shown that he can work deep into postseason games without losing his shape.

The Brewers' better route is the one they used against Skubal on Sunday. They need to extend at-bats, get runners on without chasing and force Yamamoto to pitch with traffic. Brice Turang tied Game 1 with a solo homer, but the winning sequence was much more representative of Milwaukee baseball: Garrett Mitchell walked, Cooper Pratt moved him over and Luis Lara singled him home.

That style becomes especially useful in a game where both starters can suppress power. Milwaukee does not have to string together four extra-base hits. One walk, one stolen base or bunt and one clean single can be enough to produce the run that decides the game.

The Dodgers Need Timely Offense

Los Angeles continues to generate chances without converting enough of them. The Dodgers loaded the bases against Misiorowski in Game 1 and came away with only one run, then stranded two more runners in the ninth.

That is not a sustainable formula against Milwaukee's bullpen. The Brewers relievers allowed only one earned run over 19 innings in the Division Series, then followed with another 4 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday. If Henderson can get through five innings with the game tied or Milwaukee ahead, manager Pat Murphy can again shorten the contest with a rested, confident relief group.

The Dodgers therefore need production before that late-inning structure takes over. Betts, Freeman and Ohtani getting on base matters, but someone behind them has to turn those opportunities into runs.

The betting numbers support Milwaukee as a secondary part of the handicap. The Brewers are 107-60 on the moneyline for +25.10 units and 58-26 at home for +17.40 units. Los Angeles is 103-64 but remains down 15.25 units overall, reflecting the expensive prices bettors have routinely paid to back the Dodgers.

Those numbers do not make Henderson better than Yamamoto or erase Los Angeles' championship pedigree. They do reinforce why Milwaukee at plus money is more interesting than laying -131 with a Dodgers team whose offense is still struggling to finish scoring opportunities.

Best Bet - Milwaukee Brewers ML (+121)

Yamamoto is the best individual player in this handicap, but Milwaukee has the more complete Game 2 setup. Henderson has already shown he can navigate the Dodgers lineup, the Brewers bullpen is in excellent form and Milwaukee's offense is better equipped than Los Angeles right now to manufacture a run without waiting for a three-run homer.

The Dodgers can absolutely even the series behind another dominant Yamamoto start. At -131, however, bettors are paying for that expectation while also relying on a lineup that has consistently left scoring opportunities on the field.

Milwaukee has already shown it can win this exact kind of game. At +121, the Brewers offer the better combination of home field, starting-pitcher matchup history, bullpen form and payout.

Game Thesis: Yamamoto gives Los Angeles an elite chance to prevent runs, but Henderson has already neutralized the Dodgers twice and Milwaukee owns the better late-game structure. With the Dodgers struggling to cash in runners and the Brewers getting plus money at home, Milwaukee is the more attractive side.
