Murakami shines early on
Chicago lost their first two games against Milwaukee, but there was one major bright spot. That was rookie 3B Munetaka Murakami, who hit home runs in Thursday's 14-2 loss and in Saturday's 6-1 defeat. At 26 with 246 homers in Japan's Central League, he's not your normal rookie. But when you're the White Sox, who won 60 games last season and 41 the year before, you are looking for any bright spot.
Pitching certainly has not been a bright spot, including Sunday's game against Milwaukee, when they opened up a 7-2 lead and the bullpen allowed seven straight runs. Murakami hit his third homer in that game, and Chicago also received homers from Everson Pereira and Colson Montgomery. Davis Martin is expected to take the ball on Monday for the White Sox. Opponents batted .251 against him, and he struck out 104 in 142.2 innings. On the road, he was 2-8 with a 4.52 ERA in 2025.
Miami sweeps the Rockies
Sweeping Colorado doesn't mean you're headed to the World Series, but that's a good start for the Marlins, who went 79-83 last season. On Sunday, they received a solid start, going 5.0 innings and allowing three runs with five strikeouts. Owen Caissie hit a walk-off two-run home run on Sunday in the ninth to give the Marlins the sweep. The 23-year-old from Ontario went 5 for 10 in the three-game series against the Rockies.

Big right-hander Chris Paddack will go for the Marlins against the White Sox. He struggled in 2025, going 6-12 with a 5.35 ERA, allowing 166 hits and 31 homers in 158 innings with 112 strikeouts and 37 walks. At home, he was 3-5 with a 4.80 ERA, allowing just nine homers and a .271 batting average.

Prediction and Picks for White Sox vs. Marlins
- Chicago White Sox +110 (4 units)
The White Sox blew the game on Sunday, falling 9-7 after starting with a 7-2 lead. Paddock is not a very good pitcher and when you look at his splits last season, right-handed hitters tagged him for a .281 average and 13 homers. Lefties are hitting .256, but they had 18 homers, so don't be surprised if the lefty-hitting Murakami hits his fourth homer in four games. Martin was a better pitcher overall, and was solid in the early months, going 1-3 with a 3.27 ERA in March and April.
Total Pick for White Sox vs. Marlins
- Over 8 (4 units)
These aren't incredible lineups, but neither are the bullpens. Last season, the White Sox bullpen ranked 18th with a 4.16 ERA. The Marlins were 22nd with a 4.28 ERA. Miami was pretty good against a very bad Colorado team, but they are going with their fourth starters against a White Sox team that just put up seven runns on Sunday and has one of the most dangerous rookies in baseball in Murakami.
