Kentucky vs Tennessee Picks and Predictions for Saturday, November 7, 2026

No. 8 Kentucky heads to Knoxville on Saturday for an SEC showdown with No. 16 Tennessee. Kickoff is set for 6:15 pm ET at Neyland Stadium, with ESPN carrying the game. The Wildcats (7-1, 5-1 SEC, tied for 1st) beat Vanderbilt 34-17 in their latest outing and have won five straight. Tennessee (6-2, 3-2 SEC, tied for 5th) lost 27-24 to South Carolina after winning three in a row. Our free college football picks cover the rest of Saturday's schedule.

Kentucky Looking to Keep Its Winning Streak Alive

Kentucky handled Vanderbilt 34-17 on October 24, giving the Wildcats some breathing room after two consecutive overtime victories. That was a welcome change. Kentucky had needed late heroics to beat LSU and South Carolina, but the Vanderbilt game showed the Wildcats could win without another nerve-racking finish. Now comes a difficult trip to Knoxville, where Kentucky will try to stay near the top of the SEC standings.

Kenny Minchey has thrown for 1,755 yards with 14 touchdowns and only one interception. He's completing 69.0% of his passes, and that ball security has helped Kentucky stay competitive in close games. CJ Baxter leads the rushing attack with 487 yards and eight touchdowns, although he's questionable. Kenny Darby has 507 receiving yards. On defense, Mi'Quise Humphrey-Grace has five sacks, while Grant Godfrey has recorded 72 tackles.

Injuries: Logan Watkins and Tovani Mizell are out. Alex Afari Jr. and CJ Baxter are questionable.

Tennessee Hoping to Recover at Home

South Carolina caught Tennessee on October 24, handing the Volunteers a 27-24 road defeat. It ended a three-game winning streak that included an impressive 26-10 victory over Alabama. The Vols had been finding ways to win tight games, but this time the result went against them. Tennessee returns to Neyland Stadium facing a Kentucky team that has made a habit of finishing close contests.

Running the football remains Tennessee's strength. DeSean Bishop has piled up 957 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. George MacIntyre has thrown for 728 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions, while Faizon Brandon has 697 passing yards and seven touchdowns. Mike Matthews leads the receivers with 528 yards. Tennessee also has a dangerous pass rush, with Tyree Weathersby recording seven sacks and Xavier Gilliam adding six.

Injuries: Brooks Brady, Wendell Moe Jr. and Jalen Harmon are out.

Key To The Game

Kentucky has protected the football well with Minchey, but Tennessee's pass rush could disrupt that rhythm. The Volunteers will also want Bishop involved early. Baxter's availability matters for Kentucky, particularly if the Wildcats need to control possession and keep Tennessee's running game off the field.

Kentucky vs Tennessee Game Pick

  • Kentucky Wildcats +6.5

Tennessee has the home-field advantage, but Kentucky has earned some respect with five consecutive victories. Minchey's 14 touchdown passes against one interception stand out, especially with the Volunteers capable of pressuring quarterbacks. The Wildcats also survived close SEC games against LSU and South Carolina, so a tight finish shouldn't bother them. Bishop could cause problems for Kentucky's defense, and Baxter's questionable status adds risk to the Wildcats' running game. Still, taking 6.5 points with a team that's been winning regularly appeals to me. I expect Tennessee to have its chances, but Kentucky can keep this close.

Kentucky vs Tennessee Over/Under Pick

  • Under 50.5

The total is 50.5, and Tennessee's running game could play a major role in how quickly this contest moves. Bishop has 957 rushing yards, giving the Volunteers a dependable way to control possession. Kentucky has also shown it can play patiently, with Minchey limiting mistakes and helping the Wildcats win close games. Tennessee held Alabama to 10 points before losing to South Carolina, while Kentucky kept Vanderbilt to 17 in its latest outing. A few long drives could eat up valuable time, particularly if both teams avoid turnovers. I like the under 50.5.
