Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Toronto Argonauts Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Saturday October 31 2026

By: Alex MacMillan Published 10/30/2026, 04:51 PM ET

Today’s CFL Eastern Semi-Final picks for Saturday, October 31, 2026, feature the Winnipeg Blue Bombers crossing over into the East to visit the Toronto Argonauts at BMO Field. Both teams finished the regular season 9-9, but Toronto owns the home playoff game while Winnipeg enters after a dramatic Week 21 comeback in Vancouver secured the final postseason berth.

The quarterback story changed the market late in the week. Zach Collaros is out for Winnipeg, which means Dru Brown will start after an electric relief appearance against BC. Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly is available after practicing fully through a knee issue. Bettors can follow more CFL picks and predictions, compare current CFL betting odds, and review available CFL player props before kickoff. The Best Bet is Winnipeg +4.5 or better because the Bombers’ rushing game and pass defense give them enough matchup advantages to keep this elimination game within one possession.

Best Available Odds for CFL Eastern Semi-Final

  • Moneyline: Winnipeg +170, Toronto -200
  • Spread: Winnipeg +4.5 (-110), Toronto -4.5 (-110)
  • Total: Over 57.5 (-110), Under 57.5 (-110)

The spread has been one of the least stable numbers on the Division Semi-Final board. Toronto opened closer to a field-goal favorite at several books, while the market has ranged from roughly -3.5 to -5.5 as quarterback information developed. A move toward Toronto after Collaros was ruled out is logical, but Winnipeg +4.5 or better now gives the underdog more protection than the regular-season scoring baseline suggests is necessary.

The Argonauts will be without several defensive contributors, including Andrew Chatfield and Ali Fayad.

CFL Eastern Semi-Final Preview

Toronto enters as the favorite because Kelly gives the Argonauts the highest-volume passing attack in the matchup. He threw for more than 5,000 yards during the regular season, and Toronto built its offense around attacking downfield through Damonte Coxie and a deep group of receivers. When Kelly is comfortable, the Argonauts can change the game with two or three explosive completions.

Winnipeg’s pass defense is specifically built to challenge that strength. The Blue Bombers allowed the fewest passing yards in the league during the regular season, which gives them a clearer matchup advantage than their 9-9 record suggests. Toronto finished with one of the league’s least productive rushing attacks, so the Argonauts cannot simply assume they can punish Winnipeg for committing extra resources to coverage.

The Bombers have the opposite offensive profile. Brady Oliveira led the CFL with 1,493 rushing yards and averaged more than six yards per carry. Toronto allowed one of the league’s higher rushing totals, and Oliveira already showed he can exploit that matchup by rushing for 139 yards when these teams met in September.

That becomes even more important with Brown replacing Collaros. Winnipeg does not need Brown to throw 40 times. The Bombers can build the offense around Oliveira, use play action, and ask Brown to reproduce the efficiency he showed after entering against BC. He completed all 11 of his passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns while helping Winnipeg score four touchdowns over five possessions.

That relief performance does not guarantee the same result over four quarters. Toronto now has a full week of film and can design pressure packages specifically for Brown. The Argonauts also know that limiting Oliveira is the fastest way to force Winnipeg into a game it does not want to play.

Kelly’s health is another major variable. He has been cleared and practiced fully, but this is his first game since leaving Toronto’s Week 20 loss in Ottawa with the knee injury. The Argonauts should have confidence in their starter, but playoff pressure increases the importance of protecting him against a Winnipeg defense that can create pressure without completely sacrificing coverage.

The regular-season meetings support a close game. Toronto won the most recent matchup 30-28, and both clubs finished 9-9. Neither team consistently separated from the middle of the CFL standings, which makes a spread above a field goal meaningful in an elimination setting.

Matchup Breakdown

Winnipeg’s offensive goal should be obvious: keep Oliveira involved and make Toronto defend long possessions. A successful ground game reduces the number of possessions Kelly receives and keeps Brown away from obvious second-and-long passing situations. It also gives Winnipeg a way to control the game without needing the backup quarterback to match Toronto’s passing volume.

Toronto will try to create the opposite script. The Argonauts want to score early, force Winnipeg to abandon the run, and make Brown win from the pocket. If Toronto builds a double-digit lead, the Bombers’ biggest matchup advantage becomes less useful.

Special teams can also swing this game. Winnipeg’s Trey Vaval and Toronto’s Janarion Grant have both created major return plays in this matchup. One return touchdown or long field-position change can alter the scoring environment quickly, which is the main danger to an Under ticket.

The season-long scoring baseline produces a game close to a pick’em, not a clear Toronto victory by nearly a touchdown. Winnipeg averaged 26.5 points and allowed 27.3, while Toronto averaged 28.7 and allowed 29.3. Those numbers do not account for every playoff-specific matchup factor, but they show why getting more than a field goal with the Bombers has appeal.

The total also leans lower. Winnipeg finished 10-8 to the Over while Toronto was 8-10, and both regular-season meetings stayed below the current 57.5 total. The Bombers’ best offensive strategy is also the type of game plan that can reduce total possessions.

Game Thesis: Toronto should have the stronger passing game with Kelly available, but Winnipeg owns the more dependable rushing attack and the better pass-defense matchup. Brown does not need to outplay Kelly over four quarters for the Bombers to cover. If Winnipeg can keep Oliveira involved and avoid falling behind early, this should remain a one-possession game into the final minutes. Projected final: Toronto 28, Winnipeg 27.

CFL Eastern Semi-Final Best Bet - Spread: Winnipeg +4.5 (-110)

Winnipeg +4.5 is the Best Bet because the spread is giving the Bombers more separation than the matchup baseline supports. Toronto deserves to be favored at home, especially with Collaros unavailable, but Winnipeg’s offense can protect Brown by leaning on the league’s leading rusher.

The Bombers also have a defensive strength that directly attacks Toronto’s offensive identity. Kelly can still create explosive plays, but Winnipeg’s pass defense has been the most reliable part of the team throughout the season.

The biggest risk is quarterback variance. Brown was outstanding in relief last week, but his playoff start comes against a defense that has been preparing specifically for him. The play is strongest at +4.5 or better. If the market falls to +3, much of the value disappears.

CFL Eastern Semi-Final Moneyline Pick: Pass

Winnipeg around +170 is tempting because the projected score is extremely close, but the Bombers do not need to win for the spread bet to cash. Toronto remains the more likely straight-up winner because Kelly is available and the Argonauts have home field.

Toronto’s -200 price is too expensive for a matchup between two 9-9 teams. The spread is the more efficient market.

CFL Eastern Semi-Final Total Pick: Under 57.5 (-110)

Under 57.5 is a secondary play because both regular-season meetings stayed below this number and Winnipeg’s best offensive path involves Oliveira, possession football and fewer dropbacks.

A 28-27 Toronto win produces 55 points. The primary risk is special teams or turnovers creating short fields, but the matchup still supports a total in the mid-50s rather than the 60s.

Prediction: Toronto Argonauts 28, Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27
